Please Note: Due to tonight’s weather forecast of nearly 100% cloud cover and single digit temperatures, we have canceled our viewing of the lunar eclipse at the Bogs. Try to see if you can catch a glimpse of the eclipse from your home if there is a break in the cloud cover. The eclipse will be from 11:41pm – 12:43am. Peak is at 12:12am.

This viewing has been rescheduled for its rain-date (our next total lunar eclipse) on May 16th, 2022 🙂

Come join Buzzards Bay Coalition at The Bogs and watch the moon pass into the Earth’s shadow during this January’s total lunar eclipse! Far away from the city lights, the 500-acre Mattapoisett River Reserve offers visitors a dark, expansive sky to view this incredible celestial occurrence.

The eclipse will reach its peak at 12:12 AM on January 21. Stop by any time between 11:30 and 12:30 to view the moon up-close and personal, and learn a bit more about this astronomical event.

This event is weather dependent; please check the event page/Facebook the morning of the program for cancellations.

Dress warmly; we recommend bringing a chair and blankets if you plan to stay and watch the event. Binoculars and telescopes are welcome, and some extra binoculars will be available for use. Hot chocolate will be provided!

Please remember that public properties are typically open dawn til dusk – we’ve received special permission to host this event tonight.
