Sunday Walk in Collins Woodlot
This event happened in the past.Falmouth, MA 02536
As fall takes over from summer, come discover a beautiful trail network that encompasses a portion of the Central Moraine Trail at Collins Woodlot!
The 300 Committee volunteer walk leader Cathy Kligler will provide trail maps of Collins and copies of T3C’s Moraine Trail maps. In future walks, she hopes to introduce other sections of this major north-south trail that traverses miles of woodland along the Falmouth Moraine. For those who wish to explore later on their own, the Moraine Trail and other connector trails head north into the Kettle Holes Area, or south into the Falmouth Town Forest around Long Pond.
The Collins Woodlot and associated conservation lands comprise 130 acres, bounded to the north by Blacksmith Shop Road, to the south by Brick Kiln Road, with Fire Tower Road (a dirt road) to the east and Service Road to the west. We hope you will enjoy exploring its hilly and thickly wooded terrain. Evidence of past glacial activity is abundant, with ridges, boulders, kettle holes and lots of ups and downs… some quite steep!
Park & meet along the grassy edges of the road to the Falmouth Wastewater Facility and Friends of Falmouth Dogs, just north of where Service Road turns into Blacksmith Shop Road.
