The land deal, secured by the Buzzards Bay Coalition and The 300 Committee Land Trust, protects undisturbed wetlands and coastal forest, including over 2,000 feet of shoreline on West Falmouth Harbor and a salt pond.
Removing the dam will help a diverse population of fish and strengthen the river against climate change.
This year we added 76 new places to Discover Buzzards Bay, our online tool that helps you find unique and exciting ways to get outdoors.
Help the Buzzards Bay Coalition keep an eye on the health of the water in your community. Become a Baywatcher, and you can volunteer as a "citizen scientist" on the water this summer.
This summer, the Coalition permanently conserved two treasured coastal farms in Fairhaven and Dartmouth to protect clean water, preserve coastal habitats, and create new places for people like you to explore.
We now have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to preserve this beloved landscape forever to protect clean water in Nasketucket Bay, conserve coastal habitats, and open it up for people to enjoy.
Land conservation doesn’t always mean purchasing a property outright. In fact, most of the land that the Coalition conserves is protected using a tool called a conservation restriction.
