Stretching from the ponds of Plymouth all the way to Wareham Village, the Agawam River is home to one of the most abundant herring runs on Buzzards Bay. The largest source of nitrogen to the Agawam River is the Wareham Water Pollution Control Facility, which discharges treated wastewater to the tidal estuary. The Agawam River merges with the Wankinco River to form the Wareham River, one of Buzzards Bay’s largest river systems.
