Did you know that you can use art to speak up for our oceans? Art is a powerful tool for sparking conversations, building connections to the ocean, and deepening your own understanding of ocean issues. Join Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs at the Onset Bay Center on Thursday, April 20 to learn about scholarship opportunities, find inspiration from young artists worldwide, and write poetry and create art together!
This interactive workshop will walk participants through methods of art appreciation and interpretation and allow time for reflection, writing, and hands-on art projects. Joining us for this special event is Dianne’s Art Farm, leading an art project for all ages! Students will also have the opportunity to learn about entering Bow Seat’s 2023 Ocean Awareness Contest, cash awards and scholarships, and how you can make a difference in the environment through your art!
This workshop, best suited for students late elementary through high school age, is FREE and open to all!
This workshop will take place during a week-long art exhibit in the center featuring last year’s award winners including students from Southcoast Massachusetts, Cape, and the islands! Participants can learn more about students’ creations and find out how to participate in the 2023 competition during this workshop as well.
“The 2023 Ocean Awareness Contest – Climate Heroes in Action – encourages students to learn about both climate change and solutions to the climate crisis. We want to celebrate the work of countless everyday heroes fighting to make the world more habitable and just in the face of human-induced climate change. These heroes are leading with determination, resolve, and even joy to create a better world for us all.” (Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs, Inc.)
