Mattapoisett River Valley Clean Drinking Water Project – Guided Tours
This event happened in the past. The beautiful woods and fields of the Mattapoisett River Valley (in Rochester and Mattapoisett) showcase the scenic rural character of our region, but also quietly protect water quality, maintain our drinking water supply, preserve fish/wildlife habitats, expand outdoor recreation for people and ensure important resilience to our communities in the face of climate change.
Five towns (Mattapoisett, Fairhaven, Marion, Acushnet and Rochester) are working together with Buzzards Bay Coalition (BBC) to protect important land in the Valley that will secure the quality, quantity and long-term sustainability of the public drinking water supply. Join us on a hike through the scenic project lands.
Join us on Sunday, April 2nd at 3:00pm or Wednesday, April 5th at 5:30pm.
Vice President of Watershed Protection Brendan Annett will guide you through this property, sprawling across Mattapoisett, Rochester and Acushnet, and share more information about this important project.
A Portuguese and Spanish interpreter will be onsite (information in Cabo Verde Creole will also be available), and Coalition staff will be onsite to facilitate a children’s activity while you enjoy the tour.
This event grants you exclusive access to lands that are currently in private ownership and are proposed for acquisition that will protect wildlife, create public recreational space, and secure the quality, quantity, and long-term sustainability of the public drinking water supply.
