Adaptive Sailing Session
This event happened in the past.Wareham, MA 02558
Join us on Saturday morning from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for our Adaptive Sailing Class for people of varying physical abilities. At our location, the Onset Town Pier is not wheelchair accessible, so participants should be able to walk down a few stairs, down a ramp, and then step into our 25’ Drascombe Gig from the dock. Instructors for the class are very capable sailors on the water and are ready to offer a helping hand to assist in boarding and disembarking. The Gig sailboat is extremely stable and does not require much movement to sail it with help of an instructor. The boat will lean over in stronger winds so participants should be prepared for this experience. The program is available to sailors of all skill levels, from first-timers to expert sailors. Please come dressed in clothing that can get a little wet, and avoid wearing cotton or other other materials that make you cold when wet. Fleece and wool are excellent for keeping warm under a sturdy rain jacket on the water. PFDs will be provided, but participants are free to bring their own.
Cost: $50
