The Buzzards Bay Swim is Back in Full Force June 18th

After a limited-scale event in 2021, and no event in 2020, the Buzzards Bay Swim is back to full strength for its 29th annual affair this year on Saturday, June 18.

The Buzzards Bay Swim is a fun open water swim and community event that raises funds for a great cause: clean water in Buzzards Bay. It’s also a safe, fully supported event complete with medical personnel and an on-the-water safety squad.

Swimmers complete a 1.2-mile open water course across outer New Bedford Harbor. The course is a rare chance to swim point-to-point across a closed shipping channel, beginning in the South End of New Bedford and ending at Fort Phoenix Beach State Reservation in Fairhaven.

At the finish line party, an enthusiastic crowd greets each swimmer. After receiving their bronze finisher medals, swimmers relax in the sand while enjoying live music, a pancake breakfast, gourmet coffee, and local craft beer.

The Swim is a fun and exciting event, but don’t just take our word for it. Watch this video featuring longtime swimmers Deirdre Hart, Kait Carvalho, and Nancy Smith, who will be back in the water for her 21st swim this year.

Join Nancy and hundreds of other swimmers for the 29th Annual Buzzards Bay Swim by registering today.
