Have fun discovering the fascinating conservation land at Breivogel Ponds Conservation Area! This 67-acre property features a variety of habitats, including woodland, grassland, fresh water ponds, and new vernal pools. Join Alex Lancaster and Marcy Klattenberg in identifying vegetation in this area and returning again and again throughout the year to watch the growth and change that take place. Explore such topics as:

  • Is it a pine, a fir, a spruce, or…? How many evergreens are there?
  • Brush a certain green plant to smell oranges.
  • Should we make tea from mugwort, or put the leaves in our shoes?
  • Identify a smartweed. (Is there a not-so-smart weed?)

Meet at the Breivogel parking area on the east side of Blacksmith Shop Road, just 1 mile north of Falmouth High School. Wear sturdy walking shoes and bring a full water bottle. Rain will cancel.

This event is part of a three-walk series on Wednesdays in 2017.
