Join the Buzzards Bay Coalition on a self-guided story walk this spring at The Sawmill!

StoryWalk is the opportunity to share a book with kids as you wander from page to page down a nature trail. Celebrate the joy of reading and the taste of the great outdoors! Laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to wooden stakes and installed along outdoor paths. As you continue your walk, you will find the next page in the story.

For this spring storywalk, enjoy a story with a close tie to the history of the Acushnet River and The Sawmill: Swimming Home by Susan Hand Shetterly, illustrated by Rebekah Raye. This colorful story tells the compelling story of a school of alewives (river herring) as they return to their natal lake to spawn. But a newly built culvert blocks their way. Will this be the end of their journey?
