Mountainfilm on Tour New Bedford
New Bedford, MA 02740
SouthCoast Film Forum brings back Mountainfilm On Tour to the New Bedford Whaling Museum theater on Saturday, November 2. This one-day, two-part festival of short documentaries is presented in partnership with the New Bedford Whaling Museum and the Buzzards Bay Coalition. The program features culturally rich and inspiring documentary films about a variety of subjects, including: mountain-biking; motorcycycle women; art with plastic waste; overcoming all odds to succeed in the arts and in sport; the new Olympic sport of vertical speed climbing; the perilous rite of harvesting honey in Nepal; and an amazing story of science and nature in Africa, Alaska, and the Amazon jungle.
Founded in 1979 and based in Telluride, Colorado, Mountainfilm is one of America’s longest-running film festivals. Celebrating people, art, stories and ideas, it uses the power of film to inspire audiences to create a better world. The annual festival Tour goes to over 160 cities around the globe.
Last year’s two-part show in New Bedford was a sellout success, and enthusiastically received. Each program features different films; for the most immersive and rewarding experience, we hope you will plan on attending both sessions.
Part one will run from 3:30-5:30pm. Part two will run from 7:00-9:00pm. The mid-way intermission will feature a lobby reception with cash bar and snacks, or the opportunity to step out for a local meal.
Cost: $10 per session
