The Sippican Lands Trust (SLT) is excited to partner once again with the Marion Council on Aging for upcoming walks this spring, summer and fall. The walks will showcase the wide variety of properties and trails managed by SLT and feature a theme for each walk. Please meet at the property’s parking area a few minutes before the walk starts.

Led by SLT board member Diane Cook, the September walk will be titled “Close Ups” and will take place at the Peirson Woods property. Bring your camera and/or your cell phone and try your hand at taking some nature photographs up close.

Peirson Woods is a 30-acre parcel of land with woodlands and wetlands, including a vibrant salt marsh. The property is home to numerous species of birds including herons, winter buffleheads and osprey. On a clear winter day, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and the northern Elizabeth Islands can be seen.

Peirson Woods is located off of Point Road in Marion just past the Marion Golf Course. Street side parking is available and please be careful when parking.

If the walk is canceled due to inclement weather, then information will be posted to SLT’s website and Facebook page.
