Get your little ones to discover the outdoors during Itty Bitty Bay Explorers, a series of four free outings on Wednesdays in February with the Buzzards Bay Coalition. Through fun games and hands-on activities, your family can learn about Buzzards Bay’s animals, plants, and habitats.

Itty Bitty Bay Explorers is recommended for families with children five and younger. We encourage you to attend all four programs, but it’s not required.

  • Chipmunks (Feb. 1): Where are all our furry friends? Join the Buzzards Bay Coalition and Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust for a walk along the trail at Smith Farm as we read a story about chipmunks. We’ll learn about where they hide in the winter and gather some of the food that helps them survive the cold winter months. We’ll end with a craft!
  • Birds (Feb. 8): Discover what makes birds unique! Together, we’ll explore how birds are adapted to their habitats through interactive games at The Sawmill.
  • Deer (Feb. 15): Discover life as a deer in the forest through hands-on activities along the trail at LaPalme Farm. We’ll also search for evidence that deer have been prancing in our fields and forests.
  • Animal Families (Feb. 22): Invite your older siblings to venture into the woods with us as we learn all about animal families. Together, we’ll search for different animals as we explore the Flora B. Peirce Nature Trail, learning how animals depend on each other just like we do!
