The Azorean Maritime Heritage Society welcomes the International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta back to New Bedford in 2017. The regatta pays homage to the rich whaling history shared between the United States and the Azores during a full week of cultural events and three days of racing the United States’ only three authentic wooden Azorean whaleboats.

The regatta is free for spectators. The best viewpoints are the West Rodney French Boulevard Boat Ramp and West Beach.
