Even on cloudy days, a visit to Monument Beach can offer a fun day of exploration by the water for kids and families.

Monument Beach has everything you need for a relaxing beach day: calm water, lots of sand, and some extra fun features like a volleyball net and a concession stand. It’s a great place for families to gather and enjoy a summer afternoon of swimming and building castles in the sand.

Next door to Monument Beach sits Monument Beach Marina, a public marina and boat ramp. Bourne Community Boating also operates from the marina in summer, providing sailing, boating, and marine science lessons for Bourne children and adults. With so much boating activity nearby, Monument Beach is an exciting spot for boat-loving kids to check out!

Habitats & Wildlife

Monument Beach sits on Phinneys Harbor, a round harbor that’s protected by the arm of Mashnee Island curving out from the mainland. These sheltered waters provide excellent habitat for waterbirds. In summer, keep your eyes peeled for ospreys, gulls, and cormorants – which you might spot perched on a mooring ball, drying their wings in the sun after diving for fish.
