Why I Run: Meg Good Murner

Meg Good Murner has been running the Falmouth Road Race since she was 14 years old. For the last three years, she’s been running for the Buzzards Bay Coalition because it’s an organization near and dear to three generations of her family.
Buzzards Bay was the backdrop of her whole childhood. She grew up in Marion and spent her summers in Falmouth. “We could see Cleveland Ledge from both places,” she says. A core childhood memory: she remembers her father swimming from Marion to Falmouth.
For many years, her father Gerard did the Buzzards Bay Swim (not surprisingly, given his swimming chops!). He does the Watershed Ride’s 100-mile option with Murner’s brother. Her daughters love going to the Coalition’s Onset Bay Center for Bay Explorers.
Murner is the runner.
She lives in Bourne now, and her husband Peter is an owner of Naukabout Brewing Company in nearby Mashpee.
“My whole family has enjoyed fishing and swimming in Buzzards Bay,” says Murner. She’s running for the Coalition this month as she has for the last two years because “I want it to be here for my kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.”
