Join Lloyd Center for the Environment and kick-off the summer season by observing and learning about nesting shorebirds at the dynamic ecosystem of Demarest Lloyd State Park on a warm summer evening. A large sand spit provides nesting habitat for plovers, least terns, and diamondback terrapins (an estuarine turtle) which are all nesting at this time. Other birds such as ospreys and egrets may also be seen.

Participants should bring birding equipment (binoculars or scope, camera, bird guide), bug spray, and footwear appropriate for walking along the beach and over intertidal flats. Bird guides and optics in limited quantity available for use.
