Learn how to dig your own quahogs (hard clams) from Buzzards Bay! During this free event at Burgess Point in Onset with the Buzzards Bay Coalition, the Wareham Land Trust, and the town of Wareham, we’ll teach you the basics of local quahogging: what you need, how to do it, and where to go. Participants will travel on a boat from Onset Pier to Burgess Point. This will be a fun and educational activity for the whole family!

Please dress to get wet and muddy. If you have a Wareham shellfishing permit, you will be allowed to keep the quahogs you catch; otherwise, this will be a catch-and-release event. The Coalition will provide all necessary equipment (rakes, peck baskets, gauges, and waders) for you to use, but you are welcome to bring your own.

There will be two 1.5-hour quahogging sessions during this event:

  • 10:00-11:30am (FULL)
  • 12:00-1:30pm
