Join the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and park interpreters at the Myles Standish State Forest to learn all about the Eastern Bluebird as we observe them in the wild on a short walk. Called the “Blue Robin” by European settlers, this gorgeous native songbird was once plentiful in New England – until centuries of development and competition from non-native species pushed this bird to the brink of extinction. But when private citizens began building specially-made bird boxes to attract the Easter Bluebird, they started to come back!

Be sure to take a copy of simple directions on how to build your very own Eastern Bluebird box. Perfect for the whole family!
