Our staff work from a variety of facilities throughout the region, with headquarters in New Bedford.
Buzzards Bay Center
114 Front Street, New Bedford
The Buzzards Bay Center, located at 114 Front Street in historic downtown New Bedford, is more than just the Coalition’s headquarters. It is a learning center, a community resource, and a model for environmentally responsible design. Built in 1832, the Buzzards Bay Center was renovated in 2010 using green features that help save energy and protect our local waters. In addition to staff offices, the Buzzards Bay Center is home to the Richard C. Wheeler Bay Learning Center and the Croll Conference Room, a community meeting space.
Onset Bay Center
186 Onset Ave, Onset
The Coalition’s Onset Bay Center offers high-quality, on-the-water programs. Through a variety of outdoor activities such as sailing, paddling, rowing, shellfishing, and much more, the center helps community members of all ages build a personal connection with our local environment. Since the start of our programs in July 2020, the OBC staff have treasured our time exploring Onset Bay with you and your families. We look forward to continuing to grow our programs, increasing access to all that Onset Bay has to offer.
Marion Science and Field Operations Center
173 Spring Street, Marion
The Marion Science and Field Operations Center serves as the centerpiece for the Coalition’s extensive environmental science and land stewardship work, including the David Emerson Riggs Laboratory (home of the Baywatchers program). Located at the corner of Spring Street and Route 6, this facility supports the Coalition’s diverse field operations – from water quality to land stewardship to outdoor exploration – all from Marion’s “front door.”
Gidwitz Barn
359 Woods Hole Road, Falmouth
The renovated barn at the Wheeler Forest Reserve is dedicated to Tom Gidwitz, the longest-serving board member in Coalition history. The barn serves as meeting and offices space, primarily for the Coalition's science team.
