Baywatchers - Water Quality and Stream Monitoring:
You can help monitor the harbors, coves, and rivers of Buzzards Bay. Only by collecting data each year can we fully understand changes in Bay health. Read more :: here ::

Baykeeper Support:  What better way to spend the summer and experience Buzzards Bay than by assisting with our Baykeeper Program?  This program helps keep Buzzards Bay clean by providing pump-out service to boaters in Cuttyhunk.

Support Office Activities: Join a great core group of volunteers who help with staffing our front reception area to stuffing envelopes for our membership mailings.

swim volunteers

Swim Buzzards Bay - July 19, 2008:

Swim Buzzards Bay is the Coalition's longest-running fundraising event. Each year swimmers participate in a 1.2 mile open-water swim across outer New Bedford Harbor. The funds they raise to support their swim, along with the public awareness generated from the event, make for a great day for Buzzards Bay. Volunteers are needed to swim, as well as help organize, promote and ensure the event goes off without a hitch.

Watershed Ride - October 5, 2008:

This will be the second annual Watershed Ride—a 75-mile ride from Westport to Woods Hole to raise funds for the Bay, as well as create awareness and encourage stewardship of the beautiful watershed we all share. We will need cyclists, as well as volunteers, to help make this a successful additional to our roster of events.

Other Opportunities:

  • Stencil storm drains in your town with message “Don’t Dump, Drains to Bay.”

  • Represent CBB at fairs, festival and other outreach events throughout the region by helping to staff a display booth about the Bay. Some training or mentoring is required.
