Seabird and Whale Tale Cruise
Join the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance and OceanQuest Hands-on-Marine Education on an exciting marine wildlife cruise to support local marine education. The cruise is on Sunday, June 8 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wildlife experts Wayne Petersen of Massachusetts Audubon, David Clapp of Natural History Services, and Dr. John C. Sustainable Architecture

On June 11, from 7-8 p.m., Stefan Behnisch, principle of Behnisch Architekten (of Stuttgart, Boston and Los Angeles), will speak about the role of sustainable architecture in his work around the world. Behnisch is the designer of Harvard’s new Allston campus, as well as the award-winning Genzyme building in Cambridge, and many other international projects. There will be time for questions. Innovative and Alternative Onsite Septic Systems Workshop

A workshop held on Thursday, June 12 from 9:00 am–12:30 pm at the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve will examine the viability of innovative and alternative onsite septic systems for meeting Total Maximum Daily Load limits for nitrogen on Cape Cod. Presentations will address how these systems function and perform as well as maintenance and management issues. Wastewater experts and engineers with experience working on Cape Cod will share perspectives on both the advantages and disadvantages of these systems and where and how they are most appropriately used. In addition, the session will feature a presentation on the Nitrex™ groundwater treatment system and examine its effectiveness for reducing nitrogen loading in coastal areas.
