= Shrink Your Footprint
The Coalition, in collaboration with the Buttonwood Park Zoo, Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust, Lloyd Center for the Environment, Massachusetts Audubon Society, SEEAL, and Westport River Watershed Alliance, will host three workshops exploring how we all might save the planet (and Buzzards Bay) by shrinking our carbon footprints.
All workshops are free and open to the public and will be held on Saturdays, 10:00 AM to Noon, at the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford.

February 16 - "Growing Green" will focus on reducing water use, energy use, and carbon and nutrient input in our everyday actions. Marci Cole-Ekberg, coastal geologist for Save the Bay, will give a presentation on xeriscaping or landscaping with reduced or no watering. Carol Steinfeld, local author, will talk about fertilizer use. Hank VanLaarhoven, Director of New Bedford Waste Management, will discuss composting.
Did you miss the "Growing Green" lecture? More than 100 people filled the zoo’s education room to hear local experts speak about ways to protect Massachusetts’ coastal waters through environmentally-friendly landscaping practices. If you missed this excellent opportunity and want to learn the ins and outs of “growing green,” we’ve provided some of the speakers’ informative materials and links to pertinent web sites below.

April 19 - "Driving Green" will highlight transportation alternatives and “green” driving habits to help you reduce emissions and conserve fuel. Participants will have the opportunity to take hybrid and electric vehicles out for a test spin, and learn all about biodiesel opportunities and future fuels. Jeff Morrill, chief marketing officer of Vectrix, will speak about electric scooters and demonstrate how they operate; Toyota of Dartmouth will have three hybrid vehicles on site to test drive; and AAA’s very own “car doctor” will be on hand to explain the many ways you can “green-up” your vehicle.
