NEW BEDFORD, MA—George Colt, author of The Big House: A Century in the Life of an American Summer Home, will be at the Millicent Library in Fairhaven on Wednesday, August 18th from 7:00 – 9:00pm to read sections of his book and talk with the audience about the local significance of the story.

In this story of a sprawling century-old summer house on Buzzards Bay, George Colt reveals not just one family's fascinating story but a vanishing way of life. Faced with the sale of the treasured house where he had spent forty-two summers, Colt returned for one last August with his wife and young children. The Big House interweaves glimpses of that elegiac final visit with memories of earlier summers spent at the house and of the equally idiosyncratic people who lived there over the course of five generations.

Admission is free to members of The Coalition for Buzzards Bay.  $3.00 per lecture for non-members, paid at the door. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please call The Coalition for Buzzards Bay at 508-999-6363 or visit www.savebuzzardsbay.org.
