Seventy-Five Swimmers Take the Plunge for Buzzards Bay

Event Highlights Importance of Clean Water and a Healthy Environment

NEW BEDFORD, MA—The Coalition for Buzzards Bay's 13th Annual Swim Buzzards Bay was held Saturday, July 15. Seventy-five swimmers navigated the 1.2-mile course across outer New Bedford Harbor. The swim started at Davy's Locker in New Bedford's south end and finished at Fort Phoenix State Beach in Fairhaven where an awards ceremony was held.

Matt Shenker of Pocasset, MA won the race for the fourth year in a row with a time of 21:16:00. The fastest female swimmer was Noelle Cook of Mendon, MA with a time of 28:41:00. Click :: here :: full a list of swimmers and finish times.

Swim Buzzards Bay, a fundraising event for the Coalition, highlights the importance of clean water and a healthy environment. Proceeds from the event go directly toward the Coalition's education, conservation, research and advocacy programs that help to protect Buzzards Bay.
