The Coalition's 20th Anniversary Gala
"Congratulations on a knockout party. It was absolutely spectacular in every detail. The table decorations and settings were simply beautiful. The food was delicious and the tent was not to be believed. I know it was a lot of work, but it was truly a celebration."
- 20th Anniversary Gala Attendee
That is what everyone is saying about the Coalition's 20th Anniversary Gala, held September 14th at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Phenomenal local food, a full bar, a great band and one great big beautiful tent made for some memorable moments at our best party ever.
All thanks to great group of volunteers and contributors. Click here for a copy of the evening's program [2.5 MB PDF].

Advocacy Roundup
On July 23rd, the Joint Committee on the Environment, Natural Resources, and Agriculture, held a public hearing in the City of New Bedford on two bills aimed at returning State commissioned pilots and rescue tugs to the waters of Buzzards Bay as protection measures against oil spills.
Senate Bill 517 and House Bill 844, companion bills entitled "An Act Preventing Oil Spills in Buzzards Bay" received favorable testimony during the public hearing and on September 10, 2007, the Joint Committee voted favorably to release the bills from the Committee.
This endorsement sent the bills to Senate Ways and Means, where they are currently under consideration. The Coalition hopes to see the Senate Ways and Means committee vote to release this legislation to the Senate floor for a vote before the end of September.

Sovereign Bank Comes Through
Thanks go out to Dartmouth resident and life long Buzzards Bay enthusiast, Sue Ann San Soucy of Sovereign Bank's Community Banking Learning and Development Team which recently donated $916 to the Coalition. Each quarter, the team collects donations through team-building exercises and raffles during week-long employee training sessions at Sovereign, with each region choosing the beneficiary in turn. This time The Coalition for Buzzards Bay was the lucky recipient. Thanks to Sue Ann and her great team for helping us Save Buzzards Bay.
