Renee comes to the Coalition from Lafrance Hospitality, where she spent four years as director of corporate and employee relations. But her roots are planted firmly in the fields of outdoor recreation and exploration in the Buzzards Bay region. Prior to joining Lafrance, Renee served as South Coast District Manager for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) for five years, where she managed 20 facilities including Horseneck Beach State Reservation and the Schooner Ernestina in New Bedford. Renee is also a former director of parks and recreation for the city of New Bedford.

“The areas that the Coalition manages, protects, and restores are absolute treasures in our community,” said Renee. “I’m honored to have been given the opportunity to work with this amazing team to protect the watershed for many generations to come.”

As Vice-President of Community Engagement, Renee will oversee all of the Coalition’s activities to build public participation and investment in protecting and restoring Buzzards Bay. This includes increasing awareness and active participation in events like the Buzzards Bay Swim and Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride, Bay Adventures and other public outdoor programs, and Coalition membership.

“Renee is a proven manager known for her ability to motivate people with her professionalism and positive energy,” said Coalition President Mark Rasmussen. “I can’t wait to see where her talents, passion for our mission, and track record of success take our community engagement goals!”

A South Coast native, Renee today lives in Westport, where she is the chair of the town recreation commission. She enjoys visiting the Bay’s beaches, boating, and hiking with her dogs.
