Kick-off the summer season by observing and learning about nesting shorebirds at the dynamic ecosystem of Demarest Lloyd State Park. A large sand spit provides nesting habitat for plovers, least terns, and diamondback terrapins (an estuarine turtle) which are all nesting at this time. Other birds such as ospreys and egrets may also be seen.

Participants should bring birding equipment (binoculars or scope, camera, bird guide), bug spray, and footwear appropriate for walking along the beach and over intertidal flats (bird guides and optics in limited quantity available for use).

Pre-registration is required by 4:00 pm on Friday, June 17th. The rain date is Sunday, June 19th.

Cost: $8 Members, $10 Nonmembers, children under 12 half-price
