The Buzzards Bay region is home to over 100 species of edible wild plants, some of which are more nutritious and/or flavorful than their cultivated counterparts. Join wild foods enthusiast Russ Cohen, author of the book Wild Plants I Have Known…and Eaten, and the Buzzards Bay Coalition on a two-hour ramble through The Sawmill to learn about at least 20 species of edible wild plants. We will provide keys to the identification of each species along with info on edible portion(s), season(s) of availability, and preparation methods, as well as guidelines on safe and environmentally responsible foraging.
