If you are new to the Buzzards Bay Swim (or are a lapsed swimmer who has not completed our event or another long distance open water swim in the last three years) and you need to qualify – this is the place!

YMCA Southcoast swim coaches (and long-time Buzzards Bay Swimmers) Melissa Dyer and/or Winthrop Dyer will time your 1,000-yard (22-lap) swim and offer tips on improving your efficiency in the water. Swimmers who wish to swim unescorted (by themselves with no kayak escort) need to be able to swim 1,000 yards in 25 minutes or less and submit proof signed by a professional swim coach. Mel and Winthrop have the forms on hand, so you just need to show up and swim! Swimmers unable to meet the qualifications will need to switch their participation type to “escorted” and register a kayak escort in advance of the Swim.

These swim clinics are open to only those registered – or considering registering – for the Buzzards Bay Swim on June 25.
