Buzzards Bay Swim
Save the Date: Saturday, June 28, 2014
Celebrate a clean, healthy Buzzards Bay at the Buzzards Bay Swim. Come cheer on swimmers of all ages and ability levels for the 1.2 mile open-water swim across outer New Bedford Harbor. Funds raised support the Buzzards Bay Coalition's work to protect and restore your irreplaceable Bay.
About the Swim
- We achieved Larry Fish's $25,000 challenge! Thanks to swimmers and supporters, the 20th annual Buzzards Bay Swim raised $135,000, which means the Coalition received an additional $25,000 donation. Altogether, the Swim raised $160,000 to support the Coalition's work.

- Congratulations to Alex Gallant and Morgan McCarthy, the fastest man and woman in the 20th annual Buzzards Bay Swim. And a big thank you to Steve Johnson for leading the way as the top fundraiser!
- Congratulations to raffle winners Karen Livsey and Ben Ostiguy who won $500 Hotel eGift Cards from Travelocity for raising over $100 after July 16th.
Congratulations to our $1,000+ Breakaway Fundraisers!
More than 30 swimmers raised $1,000 or more to help us meet the challenge from Larry Fish. The "Breakaway Fundraisers" name banners now hang in the Coalition's stairwell as a reminder of these swimmers' great work and support.
Meet the Swimmers
Nancy Jordan of New Bedford defied the numbers to raise over $1,000 for her first Buzzards Bay Swim in 2013.
For Morgan McCarthy of Orleans, Mass., the Buzzards Bay Swim is about achieving goals: both as a swimmer and an advocate for clean water.
